# Idle > Idle is a free desktop app that lets you play a quick game of chess, blackjack, tic-tac-toe or rock paper scissors with someone nearby while your AI coding agent (Claude Code or Codex) is busy working. Tagline: "Wait together." It runs on Mac (Apple Silicon) and Windows 10/11 (beta). It does not read your prompts, code or files. Site: https://idle-games.pages.dev/ ## How it works - You connect Idle to Claude Code and/or Codex once. It adds a small hook that tells Idle when the agent starts and stops working (only the words "busy" and "idle" are sent, to your own computer). - A small bar drops down a few seconds after the agent starts. Open it, choose a game, and Idle finds someone to play: people on the same Wi-Fi or office network, or teammates who joined through an invite link. - When the agent finishes, the bar goes away. It never takes the keyboard focus. ## Facts - Price: free. No money or prizes are staked on any game. - Platforms: macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or later); Windows 10 and 11 (beta). Linux is planned. - Games: chess (3-minute clocks), blackjack (two players against the dealer), tic-tac-toe, rock paper scissors (best of three). - Status: early, independent software. Not yet notarised by Apple or code-signed for Windows, so the operating system shows a warning on first open. - Matching: people on the same Wi-Fi or office network, teammates who joined through an invite link, and (only if you switch on "nearby play", off by default) people in your city, region or country. Nearest is tried first. - Privacy: no accounts. Other players see your first name while you are available. See the privacy page. ## Pages - [Home](https://idle-games.pages.dev/): what Idle is, install options, FAQ. - [Trust](https://idle-games.pages.dev/trust/): every file Idle touches, every connection it makes, and commands to verify them. - [Privacy](https://idle-games.pages.dev/privacy/): what information is used and why. - [Terms](https://idle-games.pages.dev/terms/): terms of use, including notes on possible future features. - [Installer script](https://idle-games.pages.dev/install.sh): the one-line Mac installer, readable before running. - [Full guide for language models](https://idle-games.pages.dev/llms-full.txt): install steps for every platform, first-run setup, troubleshooting, safety checks and the FAQ.
